As part of our report on John Wellard's arrest at the behest of Faversham Town Council in 2015, John, exercising his rights under data protection law, formally requested information about his arrest from Kent Police on April 16.
As well as details of the arrest itself, including crime reports and the audio recording of his interview, the police force has been asked for details of any emails and phone calls between then town clerk Jackie Westlake and senior officers.
The legislation gives Kent Police a set time period within which they must provide the information. That period has now expired, so the next step will be to report the force to the Information Commissioner's Office for further investigation.
